This is a very comprehensive dog training guide written by Sharda Baker and is now in its second edition. Sharda is a dog owner who has done extensive research both studying the existing literature and talking to dog trainers and experts. She's brought this wealth of knowledge together in this guide. Her aim is that you can train your dog at home using this guide. I have to say that I've found the methods in her guide to be effective. What's Covered? The manual is encyclopedic and covers everything from choosing a puppy or dog to house training and obedience training. It covers step-by-step methods of dealing with all the common behavior problems such as barking inappropriately, biting, chewing and digging.

What I Particularly Like About It

I like that apart from the dog food recipes, everything is available as an audio file. I like to download it to my mp3 player and listen to the material. I find that's the easiest way to study for me. If you're like me, this guide may suit you best.

I also like the fact that dog psychology and how dogs communicate is covered. Personally, I feel that understanding what's going on in your dog's head makes training and solving behavior problems so much easier.
